Hello, fellow adventurers! I’m Ryan, and over the past few years, I’ve been exploring our incredible planet. Today, I’m excited to share with you my favorite places in the world. Here’s my Earth Top 100!
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!### South Africa: Cape Town and Drakensberg
Our journey begins in Cape Town, South Africa, a city where ocean and mountain landscapes converge beautifully. A must-see is Lion’s Head, a peak that resembles a wizard’s hat and offers a fantastic hike. Then there’s Table Mountain, accessible via a cable car, providing breathtaking views of the city below. Don’t miss Camp’s Bay for its spectacular beach scenery, even if the water is a bit chilly.
Next, we head to the Drakensberg mountains, located on the border of South Africa and Lesotho. This area boasts some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. One highlight is Tugela Falls, the second tallest waterfall globally, cascading about 1,000 meters into a majestic gorge known as the Amphitheater.
### Botswana: Okavango Delta
From South Africa, we venture into Botswana to experience the Okavango Delta. This massive seasonal swamp, visible from space, reaches peak water levels during the summer months, attracting an abundance of wildlife. Elephants, Red Lechwe antelope, and numerous other species thrive here. One of the best ways to explore the Delta is by boat, navigating through its endless canals and lagoons.
### Zambia and Zimbabwe: Victoria Falls
Our next stop is the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. At 1,708 meters in length, it’s one of the longest waterfalls in the world. The Zambezi River powers this natural wonder, which plunges into a narrow gorge, creating a unique spectacle. A must-visit spot here is Devil’s Pool, where you can sit right at the edge of the waterfall.
### Namibia: Namib Desert
Continuing our journey, we head to Namibia, located on the Atlantic coast above South Africa. The Namib Desert, with its massive orange sand dunes and Oryx antelope, is a sight to behold. Deadvlei, a clay pan surrounded by towering dunes, is especially unique due to its ancient, petrified trees, which died 600 years ago when water stopped flowing to the area.
### Tanzania: Zanzibar, Serengeti, and Kilimanjaro
Tanzania is next on our list, offering an incredible mix of landscapes and wildlife. Zanzibar, an island archipelago off Tanzania’s coast, boasts white sand beaches and stunning coastlines. The Serengeti is another highlight, renowned for its wildlife and the Great Migration of wildebeest into Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain in the world at 5,895 meters, is also located here. Remarkably, it can be summited without climbing gear, with the journey taking between 5 to 10 days. Amboseli National Park in Kenya offers some of the best views of Kilimanjaro, often accompanied by scenes of elephants roaming freely.
### Ethiopia: Simien Mountains
In Ethiopia, we visit the Simien Mountains, home to the highest point in the country. The wildlife here is fascinating, especially the Gelada baboons, or bleeding heart monkeys, unique to the Ethiopian Highlands.
### Seychelles: A Tropical Paradise
Our final stop is the Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life. This tropical paradise is the perfect place to unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature.
